A Fall Gardening
Seminar will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Woman’s Building at the
Wise County Fairgrounds. We will have 2
classes that day, the first class will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and the second
class will be from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. You
can choose whichever class best fits your schedule. The registration fee will be $15 per person
and you can call to sign up at the Wise County Extension Office at
940-627-3341.
This event will
“lettuce” talk about vegetables. Whether
you want to eat healthier, know where your food comes from, or just love the
idea of growing delicious vegetables at home, this class is for you. Our speaker for the event will be Dotty
Woodson – Extension Program Specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension
Service in Dallas, Texas. Learn proper
soil preparation, garden design and layouts, disease and insect identification,
as well as the proper planting times.
Growing vegetables and herbs in the fall and winter provide an enjoyable
experience because of the cooler weather and different vegetables grown in the
winter. The possibilities are
incredible….. corn, carrots fall tomatoes, squash, cabbage, greens, broccoli,
cauliflower, cilantro, lettuce, kale, swiss chard, onions, potatoes and more.
