Wild Game Processing 101


Are you comfortable field dressing a deer at harvest or would you like to come and learn from the professionals? The Wise County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Leadership Advisory Board will host a Wild Game Processing 101 Workshop at the Nine Bar Ranch Lodge on Tuesday, October 21. A delicious Deer Chili Supper begins at 6:00 pm.  There will also be a chance to taste samples of venison sausage. Cost for the workshop is $10.

The workshop begins at 6:30 p.m.  Michael and Matthew Little will demonstrate how to field dress, skin, and quarter a deer. They will also discuss taping out for trophy deer.  

The Nine Bar Ranch is owned by the Waggoner-Sauder family, a fixture in the Texas ranching community since the early 1900′s. The ranch is comprised of over 12,000 acres of beautiful Texas scenery. Directions: Take Hwy 287 south through Decatur.  Exit at Highway 730 and turn north (left). Go to the first stop sign and turn right on to Hale. Make a right on to Business 287. Go south and turn left onto CR 4010. Go 6.6 miles east. We will be the green pipe gate entrance on your left. Turn into this and go up past the blue house, over 2 cattle guards and continue 0.3 miles. The road will “Y”, stay to your right. You will pass the house and dead end at the lodge.
